Who doesn’t love chili? Especially on a cool fall or cold winter night? I LOVE chili. When my husband and I first started dating, he made me this chili recipe and it is so good. It’s not your traditional chili recipe of ground beef and beans, but adds a different twist with ground turkey and corn added to the mix. You can also spice it up a bit or make it more mild as well, whatever your heart’s desire.
So let’s get started!
First you want to gather all your ingredients. I use Butterball’s 93% Lean All-Natural Ground Turkey and it works just fine, but you can use a leaner turkey if you prefer. Grab one onion, can of crushed tomatoes, pink or red kidney beans, white cannellini beans, tomato paste, minced garlic and corn. I also get out all my seasonings – salt, black pepper, cumin, red pepper flakes and red chili powder.

First you want to dice up your onion. Spray the bottom of a stock pot with spray oil and turn the burner on to medium heat. Throw in your onion to start sautéing.
After two minutes of cooking, add in the ground turkey.

Start breaking up the turkey with your spatula into small bits and mix with the onions. Next add in the minced garlic.

Once the turkey is completely cooked and you don’t see anymore pink, add in the rest of your ingredients. First add the crushed tomatoes.

Depending on how thin or thick you want your chili, you can drain your beans or just empty the can into the mixture. This time I just poured the whole can, liquid and all into the pot.

Next, add in the tomato paste.

Mix the chili mixture together before adding in your seasonings.

For the seasonings, I use salt, black pepper, cumin, red chili powder and red pepper flakes and in that order and throw them into the chili.

Lastly, I add in the corn. Corn cooks pretty quickly, so I add that in last.

Now mix the chili thoroughly and simmer on low for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to mesh well together.

Once the chili was cooked, I transferred it to a crockpot where it was kept warm. Since I was serving this for a party, I set out chili fixings and bowls.

And here is my version of the perfect bowl of chili:
