Besides Christmas, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I think it has to do with it being fall, dressing up in a costume, hosting or attending a party, handing out candy to the trick or treaters and of course, the classic Hallowen movies from the 80s. I mean who doesn’t love watching Michael Myers or Freddy Kreuger during this time of year
This year, I decided I was going to decorate for Halloween. I had never done that before except for when I’ve hosted a party and that was just for party decorations. This year, I actually decorated my living room, kitchen and dining room and I loved it! I left the porch and deck alone. I’ll see what outdoor decorations the stores have next year.
I had set up all my fall decorations and about two weeks before Halloween, I changed out all of them. I know, I must sound crazy, but I really do love decorating. I sort of am a control freak with this stuff, as some of you can tell. And when I host a party, it’s even worse. Poor Christopher 😂
For the couch, I just added a few pillows and the coffee table I changed as well. I added a black and orange plaid table runner and a glittered spider web bowl filled with glittered pumpkins and gourds. Pretty easy and simple.
The tv stand I changed everything out too. I used a black lace table runner, black candle holders, a black LED lighted tree amongst other items.
In the corner of the living room by the new console table and staircase, I hung up a spider web and a glittered black spider. I think it came out really good. It was one of my favorite decorations for Halloween!
The next area I decorated was the kitchen and dining room. I changed out the ‘harvest’ banner and hung up a ‘Halloween’ banner on my hutch. I kept the same garland, wreath and orange lights up. On the coat closet door, I hung up a cat shaped wreath.
The kitchen island I covered with a Halloween themed tablecloth and placed a table runner, ceramic pumpkins and candle holders and placemats. I’m not a big fan of the table cloth, but it was something I used a few years ago for a party. I’ll wait til next year to get a new one.
The dining room table I covered with a sparkled cream colored table cloth and placed a black spider web lace one on top of it. I placed a black spider web table runner and used a black candelabra, candles and glittered pumpkins.
I searched all over for Halloween themed plates and I finally came across these spider web ones from Michaels, but I wanted to wait until the plates were at least 70% off before I bought them. I used them as salad plates and set the table with silver chargers.
For bowls, I had seen these skull shaped ones at Michaels as well and thought they would be perfect for this tablescape!
And to round it all out, I used these orange napkins, which I’m not sure if I loved using them here. I don’t know if they’re too much. I mean, they give a pop of color to this dark theme, but I’m just not sure. However, they worked for this year.
For this Halloween, I also decorated a bar. I used the same pumpkin dispenser, just had it sit on a black ceramic cake stand. I used the same pumpkin shaped Moscow mule mugs and I found a stemless wine glass from Michaels that read ‘I’m Only Here for the Boos’. I filled the glass with orange and black striped paper straws. I also found a wood plaque that was perfect for a Halloween bar.
I hope you all enjoyed my Halloween decorations and it inspires you for your own home!
Xoxo,
Katie
