So March is now over but I thought I’d write a quick post about two tablescapes and the bar cart I created for St. Patrick’s Day. I really love everything about this very green and very Irish holiday. The green beer, the corned beef and cabbage and the oh so delicious grilled Reuben sandwiches made with the leftovers. It screams meat and potatoes and I grew up on that. Nothing better.
These two tablescapes I created have greens and whites and a touch of gold as the color scheme. The only difference between the two are the dishes. I used a traditional Irish shamrock collection from Celtic Classics that Christmas Tree Shop carries at a discounted price. You can also find them on Amazon. They have a basket weave detail around the rim along with green shamrocks. I paired a salad plate and dinner plate against a gold charger for that touch of gold.
I used a wood napkin ring that I got for super cheap at Christmas Tree Shops over the summer to give that rustic feel as well. These napkin rings could be reused for another party such as a luau dinner party or a rustic Thanksgiving table.
The second tablescape I created used these gold metallic scroll printed plates from Ciroa. I found these at HomeGoods during the holiday season and bought them to use for the Christmas party I hosted for my friends. I figured I could reuse this dinnerware for other holidays or dinner parties throughout the year. You can also find them on Amazon. I just love them, they are super gorgeous!
To add a touch of green I bought these olive green wine glasses from the DollarTree. They had a deal at the time on their shipping – $1 to ship anything, no minimum purchase necessary. You can find these glasses in the store but in case for whatever reason I couldn’t find them, I decided to buy them online. Totally worth it for $1! And I can reuse these for different parties as well! I love to reuse decor items! The Irish coffee mugs I bought at Christmas Tree Shops. DollarTree carries these as well but when I saw them in the store, I just felt the Christmas Tree Shop ones were better quality, so for a few cents more, it was worth it.
My mother-in-law has these shamrock cordial glasses and I thought they would be the perfect addition to my St. Patrick’s Day table as well as my bar cart so I searched on eBay for them. I am not 100% positive but these glasses might be from Waterford. There are very similar Waterford glasses I saw on eBay when I was searching that had similar design but different style glass with ‘Irish Coffee’ printed on each one. These little glasses would be perfect for a little post dinner Baileys before dessert 😊
When the table is not set it simply looks like this:
A very popular party addition nowadays is the bar cart. These have been becoming more and more popular over the last several years so I ended up buying one cheap at TJMAXX a couple years ago. It has that rustic feel to it but it can be dressed up to give that extra detail. For the month of March, I dressed mine up with a burlap banner with shamrocks printed on it and placed a chalkboard picture behind it against the wall.
Last year for my bachelorette I had decoupaged gold glitter onto paper mache letters to spell out BAR and I can reuse them anytime. I thought they would be perfect for this themed bar cart. A few gold and shamrock paper straws and the cordial glasses and voila! A St. Patrick’s Day bar cart!
Hopefully these ideas will give you inspiration for next year’s holiday!!
