Over the last few years, when I’ve hosted a party for a large group of people, I find it easier to make utensil holders for each person. All they gotta do is grab a holder, their plate and dig in. A lot smoother when grabbing food! I’ve even made utensil holders for a few friends’ bridal showers as well. So I figured, why not show all of you how to make your own utensil holder for your next party!
Let’s get started!
First you want to gather all your supplies. I LOVE my paper cutter. I use it for everything. This is an essential supply you will need to make this particular utensil holder. So much easier than using a scissors and cutting by hand. I also have my black plastic utensils and green napkins I bought from Dollar Tree, along with the brown paper from Michaels. I wanted to use washi tape but found this paint pen at Michaels as well. And you can’t forget the tape!
First, you want to cut your paper into strips. I was making these for a football-themed party, but if you were going to wrap twine or ribbon around your holder, I would do this first as well.
Then using the white paint pen, I drew a vertical line and then horizontal lines to represent the laces on a football.
The next step will be to put the actual holder together. Take your napkin and place it on your work surface so it looks like a diamond. Next you want to place your utensils towards the top half of the napkin.
Fold the bottom corner up towards the top of the napkin.
Fold the left corner over the utensils to the right side.
Fold the right corner over to the left side of the holder.
Fold the excess napkin around to the back of the utensil holder and make sure it is snug.
Now to attach our paper “football” ribbon to hold everything in place. Place where you’d like and then wrap around and secure it with tape.
And voila! You’ve got yourself a utensil holder!
To display my holders, I placed them in galvanized dual buckets I had and used a little bit of green shreds to add some detail to my display.
