Ever wonder how to mix up your own taco seasoning? Well, I have a recipe for you and everything you need, you’ll find in your own spice rack! My husband and I love tacos and probably cook taco meat at least three times a week. Usually we use ground turkey, but ground beef every once in a while tastes so good. Besides using it for tacos, we make burritos, nachos and even salads. It’s so versatile.
So grab your ingredients and let’s get started!
You will need salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, paprika, chili powder and cayenne pepper. We mixed up the seasoning and used about 3.5 tablespoons for taco meat. You will have a lot leftover for future use. To make taco meat, we used 85/15 ground beef and half a yellow onion.
Heat your non-stick frying pan on medium-high heat. Once you’ve chopped your yellow onion, place in frying pan and start simmering. After about two minutes, add in your ground beef.
Meanwhile, add your seasonings to a bowl.
Using a fork, mix up the seasonings evenly.
Using one tablespoon at a time, add the seasoning mix to your meat until desired taste. We added 3.5 tablespoons to the meat and that was perfect for us.
Your meat is now ready for serving. I set up a taco bar and used a Crockpot Hook-Up unit to keep the meat warm while we made our tacos.
