A few of my best friends LOVE Moscow mules – shout out to Dana and Gina – so I thought I’d add a little twist if you will to the traditional Moscow mule for the holidays. A traditional Moscow mule includes a good brand of vodka, ginger beer, a splash of lime juice and garnished with a slice of lime all mixed in a beautiful copper mug. These mules are a perfect summer cocktail to enjoy by your pool, on your deck or even overlooking the lake or ocean.

The Moscow mule I have concocted for the holidays replaces the lime juice with apple cider and flavors the vodka with caramel. It has all the fall flavors mixed into one, well except for pumpkin. I don’t know how a pumpkin Moscow mule would taste, maybe I’ll have to try that next time…

Anyways, gather all the ingredients you’ll need to make this delicious take on a Moscow mule with fall flavors. I used Smirnoff’s Caramel Kissed vodka, Zeigler’s apple cider, ginger beer, an apple and some cinnamon sticks.

Fill your mule mug with a few cubes of ice and pour in a little more than half way the ginger beer of your choice.

Next you want to add in your apple cider. Now apple cider can tend to be on the sweet side so depending on how sweet you want your mule, add more cider or lessen the cider and add more ginger beer. Mine was a little on the sweet side, so next time I would add more ginger beer than cider.

Next I added in two ounces of vodka. Now you could add more or less depending on your tastes, but I always add more to mine 😉

Lastly, you gotta have a garnish or two. Take an apple of your choice and slice in half width wise, so you see the star pattern from the seeds, then cut a slice. Remove any seeds and place on top of your cocktail.

Look at that perfect star!

Add a cinnamon stick, and voila! You’ve got yourself the perfect fall mule!

All you have to do now is sit back, turn on or light up your fireplace and watch your favorite Hallmark Christmas movie because we all know everyone loves those movies and Christmas can never come too early!
