This idea for dessert is a fun twist on the traditional charcuterie board that features gourmet cheeses, meats and crackers among a few other things. But who wouldn’t want to munch on a few sweets instead? Am I right? Plus, it would be the perfect way to serve dessert at your Valentine’s Day dinner party. You just need a wood board or platter to display everything and the sweets of your choice. Pretty simple.
I had received a beautiful wood cutting board at my bridal shower and thought this would be perfect to display everything. I used a ramekin for the chocolate hummus and white heart skewer sticks for the cake bites. And of course, can’t forget a napkin to wipe the sweetness off your face 🙂
One of the items I really wanted to use was chocolate hummus. Tribe sells this awesome hummus which pairs perfectly with pretzel crisps, strawberries, bananas as well as apples. Easy for people to just grab and dip. You won’t be disappointed buying this, trust me.
I bought strawberries and dipped them in candy melt and decorated a few with pink sugar crystals. I love dipped strawberries. They’re delicious.
I also randomly displayed a few fresh strawberries around the cutting board.
I dipped a few Oreos in candy melt as well. Sprinkled a few with pink sugar crystals and left a few plain. I love Oreos, they’re probably one of my favorite cookies. White and dark chocolate covered pretzels are also the perfect combination of salty and sweet. I drizzled a little bit of pink candy melt over them, a little homemade and a little store-bought 🙂
These white heart skewers, I thought would be perfect for white powdered donut holes or cake bites. I found strawberry cream cake bites from Little Debbie’s and thought they’d be perfect to skewer onto these sticks.
To add to the Valentine’s Day theme, I saw these linzer heart cookies at TJ Maxx and added them to the board. And of course, I knew Little Debbie’s cakes would have heart-shaped ones, which they did at my local grocery store.
And of course, you need something to grab items with, so when I saw these adorable conversation heart picks at TJ Maxx, I had to buy them. They’re pretty much a candy heart on a stick. Perfect for Valentine’s Day.
A dessert board can be so versatile and you can chose whatever sweets you’d like to munch on. Whatever your heart’s desire!
